About Channel Islands Figure Skating Club
Affiliations
The Channel Islands Figure Skating Club (CIFSC) is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
CIFSC has its official location at the Channel Islands Ice Center and purchases ice time from the facility.
CIFSC is affiliated with US Figure Skating (USFS).
USFS is the organization responsible for governing the sport of amateur figure skating in this country.
USFS selects our nations representatives for international, world and Olympic competitions.
In August of 2007, the Channel Islands Figure Skating Club and the Riptide Hockey Club joined forces to take over ownership of Channel Islands Ice Center. The two clubs are in the process of identifying a new site (as redevelopment begins on the Wagon Wheel site) and raise money for the purchase of the land and construction of a new facility. The donation link below is for money specifically for that purpose. Please help if you can, every little bit helps.
Ice Shows
We have just completed another successful Holiday on Ice Show! Our 9th one!!
We partner with KVTA radio and their Childrens' Fund to raise funds for the Ventura County Childrens' Services Auxiliary. This 100% volunteer organization provides for the everyday needs, as well as providing Christmas, for foster and abused children of Ventura County. This year we raised just over $10,000 for the charity. We feel blessed that the greater community as well as our skating families provide such tremendous support for our Club efforts to give back to our community.
Community Involvement
In producing our shows, we involve other skaters from the community. Ventura High School's Vis/Com students film the show and the DVD's are then sold with all proceeds going back to that department.
Art Students from local High Schools create the advertising posters for our shows. CIFSC invites and encourages participation of Special Needs Skaters from around the County in the show each year.
