The purposes of the Club are: To encourage in the instruction, practice and advancement of the members in any or all of the disciplines of figure skating; to encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters; and to carry out the general policies and objectives of the United States Figure Skating Association. Said organization is organized exclusively for charitable organizations including the relief of the poor or disadvantaged.
The Channel Islands Figure Skating Club (CIFSC) is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Our official location is at the Channel Islands Ice Center and we purchase ice time from the facility.
CIFSC is affiliated with US Figure Skating (USFS). USFS is the organization responsible for governing
the sport of amateur figure skating in this country. USFS selects our nations representatives for
international, world and Olympic competitions.
In August of 2007, the Channel Islands Figure Skating Club and the Riptide Hockey Club joined forces to take over ownership of Channel Islands Ice Center. The two clubs are in the process of identifying a new site (as redevelopment begins on the Wagon Wheel site) and raise money for the purchase of the land and construction of a new facility.
We have just completed another successful Holiday on Ice Show! We partner with KVTA radio and their Childrens' Fund to raise funds for the Childrens' Services Auxiliary of Ventura County . This 100% volunteer organization provides for the everyday needs, as well as providing Christmas, for foster and abused children of Ventura County. Last year we raised just over $10,000 for the charity. We feel blessed that the greater community as well as our skating families provide such tremendous support for our Club efforts to give back to our community.
